Never bought a chi, so I want to start preparing myself. I'm looking for a pet, no show dog necessary.

Breeders in southern California only, I'm not familiar with NorCal.

I am sorry I don't know of any breeders, I do know that Ca has an over abundance of chis in their shelters/rescues and some are being put down. I would look for a rescue chi or check out the shelters. Our Humane Society just tried to take in 47 from Ca but only 7 of them were healthy enough to make the the trip the other 40 got put down and this is only one Humane Society the chis from Ca are being sent out to other Societies or rescues that will take them.
