Default Swollen anal glands?...sigh, Pee-Wee just had too much going on...

I know the swollen glands is not uncommon for dogs and the procedure to treat it is fairly simple too, but I just feel so sorry for Pee-Wee that ever since I got him in April he hasn't had a long period of time 'trouble-free'...maybe I should change my ID name...

First with the knee problem, then the digestive track problem, then the long flights, then the surgery coming, and now this....

I have an appointment tomorrow with my vet to get it treated. Pee-Wee's getting extra love these days since the poor little soul just went through too much! I feel so sorry for him... He is such a little trooper, even with so many things going on he still is happy as can be every day. love him!

I hope after the knee surgery and recovery, nothing will ever happen to him again! Chi angels please protect him...

We went to the appointment today and the tech lady was very nice and gentle. Pee-Wee didn't even make a sound the entire time - he's such a good little man. He was trying to lick everybody's face, they just love him. So now Pee-Wee is all feeling better! Yay!

Usually their anal glands are swollen because the food you are feeding is not high enough in fiber. If you start feeding a food higher in fiber they should drain naturally when they poop. If you start taking them to the vet once a month or when they get groomed to be drained those glands just produce more liquid. Your best bet is to try changing the food! Good luck!
