Default I'm outraged

I was at the spca today, helping to pick up a rescue for my
friend that had underwent dental surgery. I was talking
to one of the "interns" volunteering there today. She
was telling me about her schooling and her volunteer work.

In the process of the conversation she told me that she works
at a Vets office in Orlando as well. In this conversation she told
me that the Vet's office that she works at has a policy to euthanize
all animals surrendered to them regardless of their health,
and that
she had watched this happen and it made her sad.

At the time I was holding on to a mastiff/lab mix that was still groggy
from sedation and very distracted. However once I got home I started
remembering our conversation. I remember what days she volunteers
at the SPCA so I am going to find out who this vet is, but I am so
outraged by this.

What a horrible policy... not even a plan set up with various rescues for healthy animals to be rehomed??? They are just like the gloves...disposable. That is so upsetting

That is just horrible. Why be a vet if you dont care enough to treat animals right. :/

That is sickening. I can't imagine why anyone in the PET CARE FIELD would consider them so.. disposable..?!

Awful. If the vets office does not have the means/space/whatever to care for them, why can't they just transfer the animal over to somewhere that can?

Why does the vet's office have surrendered pets?

I know it is not uncommon for our vet to have animals looking for homes. Our shelter is full, so animals get dropped and a vet's office seems to be a popular choice for some to do that in our area.
