Thanks Pam for your reply. Following your advice, sat on the floor to watch telly. Skye didnt venture over to me but she was watching.

I paid about $400 in your money, but it was money well spent to rescue her.

That's a start. Just keep doing it and eventually she will venture nearer to you. My dogs love if I have a blanket or towel or bed next to me to lay on, too.

Okay been taking all the advice and carefully watching Skye's movement. My wife just got back from town, and Skye came out her igloo, tail wagging and turning in circles. Infact does this when parents were in too.

I am the one, who walks her, feeds her, trims her nails, gives her treats etc. Yet i am the one she is skittish around. My wife doesnt spend a lot of time with Skye as she is my dog, i do everything, yet after she has came out her igloo bed to see visitors, she goes right back in there, and stares out at me.

Why???

She may have had a bad experience with a man before. Maybe the breeder was a man that yelled at her or hit her or was rough with her. She needs to see that you are ok. And, I'm sorry, she may never. It may just be something she can't get over. I know I have a few dogs that do not like my son. He's tall and has a deep voice and he scares them. Nothing he did. You may just have to get another chi just for you.

I do too. Just keep trying to ignore her. Its so hard with the rescues, we just don't know their background. I have one dog, severely abused and neglected, that hates my adopted daughter who is black. All we can think of is the family that had him before us was black, too.

She feels confident coming out of her igloo bed when others in the room, but not when its just me

I have never harmed Skye but may have been guilty of raising my voice in the past, which was not often and which i certainly dont do now.
