Jennmay, I have never used an e-collar on any of my other 3 dogs when they were spayed/ neutered. Maia licks hers but not all the time. Just a little here and there. I paid for antibiotics which started tonight and are 2x a day and pain meds which are once a day and start tomorrow. I hate that she's in so much pain. She never growls at me or tries to bite me and now she does. All I try to do is help her on and off the couch cause she's not suppose to jump and she wants to be next to me....... I just feel helpless right now....
Bless her heart!
It seemed that I had to keep reminding my friends, neighbors and co-workers that it was not a "quick snip" like having their tubes tied, spaying is a hysterectomy.
Tomorrow she will feel better and a bit more herself.
She-and you-really just need rest.
Please keep us posted how she is doing when you are able.
The great news is that this is now behind you and her-forever!! It is all healing and uphill from here!!
Well, today is a better day for Maia. She is acting a little bit more like herself. She's still laying low and resting a lot, but the best thing that happened today was she woke me up with a million kisses!!!!! She can't wait for later tonight to watch the Super Bowl because her favorite team, the Giants, are in it!!!!
Thank you everyone for all your kind thoughts and prayers for her speedy recovery!!!! Maia sends you all chi hugs!!!!
Glad to hear she is on the mend ~ good luck to your Giants. I know we're in Steeler country here my Grandma (95) is rooting for the Giants tonight though. I am hoping Storage Wars or the Pickers are on Did tape a Nora Roberts movie though just in case I need a viable plan B
Glad to hear she is doing good, if you do think you
need to restrain her from licking, baby onesies work
well with out the awkwardness from the collar.

Thank you everyone for your kind words for Maia. She is still sleeping a lot and is being quiet. I'm letting her sleep as much as she wants seeing that it's good for her little body and the healing process. I can't wait until she gets her stitches out and is back to my little happy princess......
