That is scary! I would never feed the birds in my area as I try to keep them at bay and wouldnt want to encourage them coming around. I have had a close call with one coming after Yoshi when we first moved in. I have heard many a horror stories of Hawks and other birds of prey carrying off dogs and cats. Oh that just makes my heart break to think of all those furbabies and those little collars!

Shudder! The little sharp shinned hawk was never an issue (too small to be a threat), but once I realized feeding the birds was attracting a larger hawk, I decided to stop. Unfortunately, it hasn't made much difference though, because our neighbors on either side still feed. Now I'm all nervous when I'm out with the dogs. The other night an owl hooted nearby, and I about jumped out of my skin. I scooped up Chica and ran back inside!
