I am really at a loss here. The vet said he has no idea what is causing his allergies. But gave him a shot for it. Took a multiple of blood tests for pancreatitis, etc. Gave him an anti diarrhea med and a shot for allergies. This cost me $500 for no answer. I would be fine with that, but in the last hour Timmy is biting and trying to scratch at his belly and back legs again. So the allergy shot did nothing.I am so worried, what else can I do? I would think the shot he gave him would alleviate all the scratching and biting.

Please your suggestions.

Sending healing thoughts your way for little Timmy. Maybe the blood tests will show something or the shot will kick in for you. I agree with the others on keeping a very bland diet of rice & chicken until his tummy settles. You did the right thing taking him to the vet. You don't know what was prevented with that shot. Hope he is soon feeling better ...

I think it depends on what kind of steroid the vet gave. If its a long acting steroid, it takes longer to start working. If it is a short acting steroid, it's time to kick in is much faster but it doesn't last as long. Does that make sense? It's all in the pharmacokinetics of the steroid.

Regina, call the vet first thing in the am and tell him all this, tell him that Timmy seems the same even after this shot. See what he says.

I have called him and left a message that this shot did nothing to alleviate his allergies.
He was so concerned with his diarrhea, he got a pill for that. But I think that his allergies have something to do with his diarrhea. And the allergy shot is not working. I am so scared, the last time we went to this vet, we had to put Tiny to sleep, just four weeks ago.

Does anyone know what he can be allergic to. I have taken all his toys away. Got rid of the carpet that he loves. No new food. Nothing was new that he got into.

Something that also doesn't make sense, the vet said he would be drowsy after the shot,he is still wide awake.
Any thoughts or suggestions, please.

Where is the swelling exactly? Whole face? Just snout?
How are his teeth, did the vet check?

Do you give any treats or human food? Have you treated him with any anti-parasite treatments recently?

Do you have an emergency hospital anywhere near you? We have a wonderful facility that has great specialists. If you do, that would be a good place to take Timmy. Sounds like he needs something beyond the scope of the expertise of your vet. I would go as soon as possible. Good luck and get well wishes for little Timmy!
