I was born and raised in South Florida. I left this August for law school in NC. The difference is amazing. I hated Florida. I hate the humidity, always feeling itchy and sticky, warm winters, and snowbirds. I don't think I will ever move back.

Aww, the snowbirds, wish I was rich enough to be one.. If I was raised here and then went to a state like NC or SC, I would never go back either, my Dad was born and raised in SC. My Mom in Conneticut..so we spent time with family growing up in the north and south. It is cheaper to live in FL..I also want to add, I just love this little Chi of mine, he is a born Flordia puppy. Good luck with college, it is so hard but worth it.

Wow, I dunno the laws over there, but here you have to apprentice with an already licensed falconer for at least 7 years before you are eligible to be licenced to own one.
Hope that kid doesn't need loads ot psychotherapy down the line.

I never really thought about predators that could get Jaxx until the other day and one of our neighbors came to tell me that she saw coyotes where I walk Jaxx all the time. I have always heard them over in the distance every night but I never thought about them around our apartment complex. Now I keep Jaxx on a very short leash after dark and don't let him explore a lot at night.

I am glad I started this thread. I took Ike to the Vet, and she breeds JR Terriers, she was dive bombed by 4 Owl's trying to get to 3 puppies, she put the puppies under her shirt and ran to the house. Wild animals are very dangerous to humans and pets! Never let your guard down.

I have posted before about alligators here on Hilton Head Island SC. A couple of weeks ago, our gated community's local news bulletin warned all residents about an event that had occurred on one of our in-community golf courses. Two dogs wandering around the course had fallen victim to alligators. You must always be vigilant.

OH that is horrible, poor baby! I can't even imagine how much pain he must had and be in!
