Charlie is an only dog now Penelope went to live with some friends in a differnt town. She was very protective of her toys and anything else she deemed hers and Charlie being so tiny and just a baby didn't understand . She hurt Charlie pretty badly a couple times so I found her a wonderful home where she is the only pet the couple she is with are both truck drivers and she can go with them everywhere they live on a farm with 12 acres so when she's home she has lots of room to run. She's been gone for a few months now. Charlie had become quite close to TC since Penelope left and now he's gone also as you know he crossed over rainbow bridge a couple weeks ago. Well now since Charlie has no one of his own kind to play with he has become very needy and seem a little lost without a friend. I'm considering adopting another Chihuahua I just don't know whether I should adopt a new little puppy or to maybe adopt an older puppy around the same age as Charlie he will be a year old in a couple months so i was thinking maybe a young dog up to around 2 yrs old. What do you think would be best a new Puppy or an older puppy? I'm having trouble deciding what would be best for him.
Aww, poor Charlie. I think either would work out, but a new puppy will grow up alongside Charlie and probably become very bonded to him. If you get an older puppy or dog, you'll want to get one that's been properly socialized and has been around other dogs. It will be easier on you. I would personally get a new puppy because they are just so cute and who doesn't love the tiny puppy days?!
I agree, new puppy, Charlie isn't that old and they will grow together. I have a rescue and they usually come with issues. That is why this time I decided to get Ike , at 8 weeks old.
I have been debating the same thing. I think I am leaning toward adopting an older puppy. I got Jaxx at 20 weeks and honestly he was easy to house train. It seemed like I blinked and he was house trained. I think I would like to adopt a dog that is under a year so that it is still close to Jaxx's age but still young.
I have been looking at dogs up for adoption here in TX and we have lots of chihuahuas in our shelters so I think it would be best for me to adopt a dog that needs a good home.

I agree I think a dog that really needs a home would be best. I'm not talking about a dog that has baggage or that has been abused but a dog that needs a home because someone circumstances have changed and they cant keep their dog any longer I would take a dog up to the age of 2 at the most they are still young and active but are usually a little more trainable. I think I've found the perfect dog. I posted a new thread about him.
