Toby has 24/7 access to water now. He also pees on command, LOL. So I just tell him "go pee pee on your pad so we can go night night" and he does (he goes on the pad at night). Then we go to sleep and he sleeps through the night. He did poo in the bedroom once, right near the door. But he was very ill with a stomach ache and I apparently didn't wake up. So now I put a pad in the bedroom, just in case, because I can't sleep with the door open. He's never used it.
When he was young he did pee on the bed a couple of times, when I first let him start sleeping with me. It was always first thing when he woke up and it was really my fault for not taking him out or putting him on his pad as soon as we woke up.
How old is Douglas? He may need to go out right before bed or even in the middle of the night if he is young. If he isn't fully potty trained, I would continue crate training (or using a play pen like I did) until he is trustworthy.
