Default Amazed how smart he is sometimes

Jaxx has figured out that if I am in my Pjs and ask him if he has to go outside that I still have to get dressed. Now he waits until I am dressed to say he has to go outside. I at first thought it was just a coincidence but he has done it several times now and if I ask him if he wants go out he won't get up to have his harness on unless I am not in my pjs.

It amazes me sometimes how smart he is. I think at least once a week he does something that amazes me.

The only thing I think he hasn't figured out is that his big stuffy KONG bear can't play with him. He keeps giving the bear his toys and huffs in aggravation when the toy just falls off the bear.

What does your chis do that just amazes you?

That sounds so cute. We need to see him trying to play with his bear! What a clever boy, you should let us know the things that amaze you. I love hearing about how clever these little guys are. I was amazed that at 9 weeks old Mylo got sit in his very first 3 minute session and from then on recognised it by the word or hand gesture. Willow still only gets the gesture and I think it's from context. She amazes me with the things she's brave enough to do like climb up and down the stairs (I wish she wouldn't) and jump up on the couch. She's so tiny!

This doesn't amaze me intelligence wise but in concern and compassion. If I cough or sneeze Mylo will immediately stop what he is doing, come over to me, inspect me, give me a lick and then go back to what he was doing (so long as I've stopped coughing). He also will lick any cuts or bruises we have to look after us and has done since we got him. Willow does no such thing, she is very affectionate though.

I agree. Toby's intelligence and compassion amaze me every day.

He saved me from burning down my apartment a couple weeks back (I left and potholder on the stove and accidentally left the stove on). He knows when I get dressed that either we are going for a walk or I am leaving- if I don't say, "Let's go walk" he hides so I can't put him in the bathroom. When he gets cold, he goes to his little shelf, picks out a t-shirt, and brings it to me.

His compassion surprises me every day. Today, I bent down to pick up a book I needed. At the exact same moment, he decided to jump on the couch. He hit my head so hard I was in tears, he felt terrible. He was kissing my tears and cuddling me, it was sweet. He knew he hurt me and he felt terrible. When I'm stressed with school, he comes over with one of his toys and drops it in my lap to play- he knows it helps me. Such a sweet boy.

I adore him so much.

I loved your story about Toby telling you about the stove (not the stove being on bit, obviously!) He's such a smart little guy. And so sweet it seems. Bless, what an amazing little character you have there. Mylo doesn't seem to have a clue when I'm stressed or upset (maybe because he's a puppy?) But my childhood Chi Poppy did. If I was upset she would always come give me cuddles. Our kind Charles spaniel got out one time so I was crying and she sat with me the whole time.

Tiki is compassionate too. It is amazing to me how she is so loving. She loves giving kisses. She just makes me so happy all the time. I love watching her and the things she does. She also knows when I am leaving and she will hide under the couch. She will also climb into her bag if she wants to go with me.

Thanks, he really is the smartest dog I've ever owned. My mom jokes with me that I act like he is human, and I tell her he is truly smarter than some humans I've met!

He wasn't nearly as compassionate and loving when he was a puppy- he was wild! It wasn't until we moved out of my mom's house that he really got in tune with me. I don't know if that is because he finally started to mature or because we moved out on our own. But Mylo is still a baby, give it time.

Haha. Yea, he's probably smarter than a lot of humans I've met too!

Wow! some great tales of clever Chis there!
Romeo is really intellegent, he picks up tricks faster than any dog I've known.

He is still baffled by the laser pointer though...
