Hi! After reading up on reusable/washable pads...I have a couple of questions, as I've been spending tons on money on disposable ones and I'm thinking if switching.

First, how did your dog(s) handle the transition from disposable pads to washable ones? Do they pee on rugs thinking it is their potty pad?

Do you wash them every day at the end of the day? How often do you change/wash them?

Leo tends to pee on the edges of the paper ones and it always spills over and onto the carpet. Does this happen with the washable ones?

How many washable pads do you keep on hand?

And finally, where do you buy them?

They transitioned very easily, as I just put them in the same place. They're still soft and white; but they're not thin like towels. No more corners flipping over etc. I've never had issues with them peeing on rugs, but we have carpeting throughout. If I have an unreliable foster, I use the enzyme spray from Dollar tree and it works well to keep them from reoccurring.

Do you wash them every day at the end of the day? How often do you change/wash them? I do laundry in the mornings, but after their 6am outside break. We have regular outings so they don't need to use the pads, and mostly just used overnight. Some days they'll stay dry the whole day and others not; I'm a neat freak so I wash them "as needed".

They're thick and very soft, so they absorb pretty well. The ones I have are hospital pads so are meant for humans; so work great for 5lb doggies haha.

How many washable pads do you keep on hand? Three. It was the best value I could get on a 3pack. There's always one down, and 2 on hand; an extra in case one's in the laundry at the time.

And finally, where do you buy them? I don't remember which seller specifically but it was through Amazon.com. There's a lot of options based on sizes and quantity.

Mine noticed no difference. I have them in 3 places so I have a TON! A large one in their pen area (when we are gone longer than an hour or two) one in the entry way which is on a rug and one under the bar in our dining room.

I get the small ones (chair pad sized) for the dining area and large ones for their pen and entry.

I wash pads every other day. They get changed daily.

Does everyone wash them in a separate load, or by hand? Do you have to use any kind of special cleaner?

#1. I put down a slightly used (pee) pad down on top of the washable pad for a couple of days. No problems when I took it up.
#2 I wash them at night. Bonnie has such tiny pees sometimes I wait and let her have her pad two nights.
#3 Some of my chi's like to go on the edges too---and the pad is right against the wall
#4 I bought them at a medical supply place.

I wash them separately from other laundry. I use my regular Seventh Generation laundry soap. I add bleach to the bleach compartment.

NO fabric softener or they will get coated and no longer absorb.

my girls had no problem at all with transition. they new right away the pads were where they should go. yes, they are confused about little rugs so i dont use them or they will think they are too pee on.

How often do you change/wash them? my washer is in the basement. i put them down there and when i have a bunch to wash...i wash them. how often i wash them depends on how much they pee on them. sometimes they go outside alot, othertimes when the weather is bad, they go alot on the pee pads.

How many washable pads do you keep on hand? i have alot... i think at lest a dozen maybe more. that way i dont have to keep washing them. i wait till most of them are dirty

And finally, where do you buy them? Pet edge used to sell the Pooch pad brand , they dont anymore.

Not the same, but my dog wears diapers overnight and whenever there's a change that may cause him to pee, such as when I adopted a new dog. He uses the reusable male wraps that they sell at all the pet stores and I put a maxi pad in them.

I tried to get the floor pads but he just didn't take to them. I'm kinda thankful as they seem more gross to me then diapers, and I'd rather have one dog using diapers then both dogs using the floor pad.

BTW, I've seen the floor pads for super cheap at Sams Club, I think it was like 100 for $10 or something like that.
