Yeah, there is so much at stake when you choose to breed- genetic (health and temperament), the life of your dog, money, etc. It is an unbelievable undertaking.
Please don't apologize, sometimes we have to realize that as much as we love our dogs and they are awesome we shouldn't breed. Don't say you won't breed because it will upset us. Try to understand the potential problems that we are talking about and "get" why many of us are against uneducated breeders.
I'd get your girl spayed or you may end up with an "oops" litter.

Sounds as if you have decided not to breed her but I still wanted to provide some links from here that may be helpful as you decide.
This one is quite old but still relevant.
Chihuahua Breeding Information (Very Useful)
This one has a link to a great chart!

Kaelynn, this is not about upsetting us, it's about health and happiness.
I care for the health and well-being of your dogs. Which is why I am glad
you have changed your views regarding breeding your pets. It's not as easy
as 1 2 3 we got cute puppies. Without being familiar with genetics, and the
health history of your dogs and their ancestors you would be putting your
precious pups at risk. Without the knowledge that takes years to acquire and
without the funds required especially for emergency situations you would be
taking a very big risk. For the love of your dogs I highly recommend you spay
and neuter them. Neuter your boy first, before he reaches sexual maturity.
And don't worry about asking questions on here, there are a lot of serious
dog lovers on here, who not only care for their own dogs but those of fellow
Chi lovers as well. Everything I say to you is out of love and concern, it's
never to put you down, make you feel uneasy, it's simply to try and help.
So I hope we'll hear more from you and get to watch your pups grow.
Take care.

It isnt that anyone is upset with you. I hear this so often, people love their dogs so much that they want a puppy out of them, the problem is that there are so many people that think the same thing and that is one of the reasons why there are so many dogs in shelters these days. There are almost always more than one puppy produced and those puppies have to be taken into consideration. I have known of times when those same people are told by all sorts of friends and family that if they breed they want a puppy or are asked to breed so they can have a puppy, usually this doesnt end up being the case once the dog has puppies...there always seems to be an excuse as why they cannot have the puppy now. There are so many puppies/dogs needing homes right now and when you breed more babies into the world then that is another puppy/dog out there that will miss out on a home and will probably be euthanized in a shelter.
Also as said above there are so many other things to take into account when breeding and with Toy breeds you really do have the chance of losing the female. Breeding is a HUGE responsibility. I have researched this breed and have tons of experience with Chihuahuas now but know for a fact that I am not willing to take on such a huge responsibility.
Please dont take everyone's comments here as being upset with you, we all just have a great passion for this breed and just want you to take all things into consideration and really do your research before making such a decision
I am so glad you decided against it =)

Loads of people keep asking me if I'm going to use Rolo for stud, a lovely idea in theory but I can't do it. I know it's not the same as breeding a female and doesn't carry the same risk but I still can't bring myself to do it. I would want a puppy,(or more than one!), I would worry about what would happen to the puppies, I wouldn't want to put somebody else's chi-baby at risk from having a litter and I really don't have a clue how to go about it so therefore I'm keeping well out of it! I can kind of understand why you would want to breed but I think it would be more hassle than its worth. I used to breed my finches in my aviary which was no where near like breeding dogs etc, but in the end I gave it up and got rid of it as it was horrible clearing up little dead chicks. Wasn't because I was doing anything wrong but was kind of inevitable, natures not always nice. Noooo, I couldn't stand the stress of breeding chihuahuas!
