How old are female chihuahua's when they are ready to breed?

If you need to ask this question, you are not ready to breed your dog! They only can breed when in heat. Please don't breed your dog. Be proactive and spay her.

Im sorry for asking a question? This is my first time as a chihuahua owner and i would love to have one litter as i planned when i first got my female. I didn't know if small dogs went into heat sooner than normal dogs. I've raised pitbulls all my life and believe other or not lol i do know things lol

Why on earth are you planning to breed your girl? I thought you were over your head in debt/bills, plus the fact I thought your chi's were recuses?

So many things wrong here, leave the breeding to the breeders and quality stock.

Kaelynn, what are your reasons for wanting to breed?
It's obvious where I stand on the subject of breeding your pet,
considering I'm involved in rescue. But I'd like to hear the "why",
before I give you the "why you shouldn't".

My male is a rescue. And i am in dept. But i didn't know how old chichis had to be before they could breed. I was gonna wait til she was at least 3 years to breed her. I was just asking so i would know when to watchfor her to come in heat so i can separate them. I just wanted a baby from them.

I don't see the harm in having one litter. And that's when she is 3 years old lol she is only 3 months old right now lol. I wanted to breed them so i can have one of their babies. Im sorry to offend anyone by my choice to breed my dogs in the future.

I agree.

Whelping a littler is very expensive. And many Chis need a c-section which can be more than $1000. Overall, breeding can cost thousands upon thousands of dollars. Sometimes the mama chi dies. Sometimes the breeder will have to hand raise pups. It's a difficult job.

Also, what would you do with the puppies you couldn't keep?

You want to breed a rescue male to your female???
