Izzy could not have the surgery as her heart rate kept dropping down and the doctor felt it was too dangerous to proceed...she will need to go to the OVC where she will be under the care of a board certified anesthesiologist...
The DVM just called again and Izzy is doing better in recovery ...they want to meet with me later today to discuss her options...so we are very disappointed but relieved also that they were so careful with her ...
I will be meeting with them later this afternoon...we will talk about her options...they were removing the eye because it was painful...she has used steroid gtts in the past and maybe another course of them will help to reduce the pain/inflammation...I just don't know at this time... we can take her to the OVC for the surgery...I am not crazy about doing this at this time, its too soon after Bellas death there but we will go if absolutely necessary...

They think it was the propofol she reacted to...she required atropine twice before they stabilized her...poor little munchkins heart is still pounding in her chest ! She is still quite dozy and unsteady on her feet and she cries out a bit, but I think that is just the effect of the meds...
So the next plan of action is to take her back down to the city to see her ophthalmologist to get her views on what should happen next ...so hopefully it won't take too long for an appointment...
When they called me this aft they said since she didn't get her surgery they would go ahead and give her the rabies vaccine..but by the time I got there this evening they decided not to give it to her so she has to go back next week for that...
so the adventure isn't over yet with this darn eye !

Wow what a terribly stressful day for poor Izzy. I just hate it when one of my animals is under that much stress or duress. I sure hope the ophthalmologist can help you and Izzy out with a better course of treatment ...perhaps that will not involve surgery. I can certainly understand the effect this must have on you Kathleen given your recent loss. Stay strong and pray!!! We are all here for you. Love and hugs to you and Izzy.
