I thought I'd share a funny little "conversation" Chica and our cockatiel Pipper had shortly after we brought Chica home from the humane society...
Pipper: loud wolf whistle, followed by "Hello there, birdie"
Chica: low growl
Pipper: "Pippy (one of his nicknames) is a good bird."
Chica: Bark, bark, bark!!
Pipper: Squak, squak!!
Chica: Even louder barking!!
At that point, Pip decided he'd had enough and walked away to go "spend some time with" his favorite toy, a bell that's hanging in his cage (and by "spend some time with" I mean attempt to impregnate...seriously, this bird and that bell need to get a room!) So Chica then decided she'd had enough too and went to lay down in her favorite bed (Dog Cave). A few minutes later, Pipper slowly strolls over, getting as close to where Chica is as he can (Pip was still in his cage) and begins loudly whistling the "Andy Griffith" theme (his favorite song, one that he came to us already knowing). Chica jumped up, barking wildly, and I swear that bird looked pleased with himself! They've since learned to peacefully coexist, but they're certainly not what I would call the best of friends.
