I've been thinking about a change in career lately, been toying with the idea of setting up my own business. I would LOVE to work from home so that I could be with Romeo, I was just curious, those of you that work from home, what do you do? And how did you get that job? Thanks guys x

I work from home but in a very, very specialized field. I mostly am home then I will have to travel for 2-3 weeks every so often, and at the holiday season I always have a client/gig on weekends and evenings that keeps me out of the house. I work in the technical design side of the entertainment industry.

I must say that working from home is very over rated IMO. I get bored and lonely and want to get out of the house. Luckily what I do is a combination of very skilled, detail oriented and tedious computer work and fluffy concept statements and fun outings with clients so I am not home by myself all the time. If it wasn't for my dogs I would just go nuts anyway! The other thing is that you have to be very self motivated- I work for myself but if I didn't love what I was doing it would be very hard to motivate getting things done.

Wow, that sounds really interesting! Lots of trips and events must keep things fun Yep, I agree with you in that you gotta be really passionate about your job to keep yourself motivated.

Thanks! It seems like more and more people are doing it these days I know there's a few people on here that make and sell doggy clothes as a side business, sounds like a fun, creative way to make a bit of spending money. It sure is a rush to get home and tend to Romeo in my half hour lunch break D: I love the idea of working at my PC whilst Romeo sleeps at my feet. x

I have wanted to work from home for years! I knew we couldn't get a dog without me or my hubby doing so, so I started my own business and now we have Max!

I'm still in full time employment but my hubby now works from home on my business and he is also learning to trade foreign exchange. It wasn't the original plan for him to be at home but currently it just makes more financial sense for me to keep my job. It means it's hard work for me though as I still spend a lot of time responding to customer queries and uploading new products etc (I sell things online) but the end goal is that I can work from home full time and then maybe we can get Max a little brother or sister!

Even though it's really hard work and can be pretty stressful I would recommend looking into it if you fancy it, it can be really rewarding!

That's great! what do you sell? When did you first set up? Did you start off doing it in your spare time before your hubby started helping out? Sorry about all the questions!

At the moment I'm living at home with my mum who works at a school, so she has half terms off and is always home by half three. Plus I come home in my lunch to let him out. He has Ellie now, to keep him company, but when I move out from my mums I would worry about him being alone too much. x

I sell wedding gifts and accessories. It's just less than 3 years since I started doing all the research etc and I can't see me being able to give up my job for another couple of years at least, unless I work extra hard! Yeah I did it all in my spare time before he started helping me. Not quite sure how I managed it, there's no way I could do it all now in my spare time!
