Ashley,
Before I settled on a Vet most in my area have a free consultation. I don't know if she has a " special degree" but she specializes in small/toy breads. She said 95% of her patients are chi's. she herself has 6 chi's. When doing Otis's exam she was very thorough. She explained all of health issues such as
Subluxation of the patella, Hypoglycemia, and Collapsing trachea.
She has been or practicing for 20+ yrs.
She also explained to me about due to his small size that they would give him shoots over longer periods of time as not to overload him. She called herself a "chi specialist". I am a new chi owner and just going by what I was told??
Out of the 5 Vets that I met with she seemed most knowledgable and didn't seem like she was trying to sell me every item in the store rather was concerned on my puppies well being. As a first time puppy owner/chi it was a little overwhelming at first but she did give me the run down on things to expect.
