DIY Pet Park?
So, I've been thinking about getting one of those Pet Park thingies.

Then I saw the price! Yes, it's only like $20 but I just can't pay it right now.
So I was thinking about getting one of those grass mat thingies at Walmart for $5 - $10 and putting something on the bottom to catch all the stuff, and to make it easy to clean.
What do you think?
Have you used one of these things? If so, did it take alot of training to get them to go on it?
We've used puppy pads, and they just don't seem to work with this dog

I've used one, and it was really easy to get Odie to go on it. However, I personally hate them. Even with a thorough washing, it still smelled. Just not for me.

My mom had one for our previous chi. I hated it. No matter how well we cleaned it, it always smelled. And our dog didn't really like it.

I have to go with the other two on this too. It was easy to get Mylo to go on it but it was hard to clean and always smelled. I now just use the tray it came in with a puppy pad instead.

Hmm... maybe DIYing one, then doing what you did with the tray and puppy pad work to get her to use the puppy pad? Because she'd be used to going potty in that spot?
Thank you guys!

The "grass" won't make her know to potty there. She won't think it's real grass, and it isn't scented or anything like pads are. Sometimes, they refuse to use the grass because it isn't real and they can tell the difference. I'd just go with pads if that's what you want to do long term.

Yes, the pads are much less of a hassle. I ended up putting one under the grass part anyway! I'll likely use a grass system again in the future if I go boating for a couple of weeks, but that's only because I can just dip it in the ocean. I'm sure there are people who use them successfully in their homes but I just don't know how. Odie actually really loved hers, but it was just not working for me. If you want to use pee pads and cost is an issue, a lot of people here use the washable kind and love them.
