What's in a name...
Everyone here has such original names for their fur-babies, it got me wondering: How did your chi get their name?
Orignally, I named mine "Opie". I'd come home from work and try to get "Hello sweet Opie" out of my mouth but it just wouldn't happen. A couple of days later I switched to "Dooney", because I'm such a massive handbag collector (Dooney and Bourke...get it?) or "Louie" (Louis-Vuitton), and that was better but it still just didn't fit.
The first time we put him on the grass in the backyard, he did the bunny hop thing. I'm sure everyone's chi did the same thing. We just cracked up. My boyfriend said he looked like a little bunny rabbit & I should name him "Thumper", but I had to modify that a bit. Besides, he literally hopped, like a kangaroo. Soooooo, Roo it was. Half the time I call him "Rooney", "Rooster", or sing a little hello to him like, "Roo, Roo the wonder dog, I'm so glad you're not a hog...but you certainly hop just like a frog...Oh Roo, Roo my wonder dog!!!!" (I know, I really am pathetic.)
Sooooo, your turn: How'd your baby get their name?

There are actually a lot of threads like this.
I like "special" weird out of the ordinary names for everything, hubby and I even picked our future children names lol, all of them are uncommon.
We both made a female and male name list and then picked together, both selected names were on my list, hubby's list was too weird lol.
My male chi is called Laska which means Love in czech, I picked that name because he is so very loving, hubby calls him my stalker.
Karma is a female, I believe in karma and love it as a name. I joke about Karma being good is because of me and she being bad is because of daddy's karma.

Zara is the Inca goddess of maze ( a type of corn)
We wanted to name her after a goddess since we named our cat Kamiko which translates from japanese to little goddess, and we really wanted a name from South America.

Douglas got his at the shelter and it just stuck.
Most of my pets have unusual names, some of the weirder ones are Teshi (african for cheerful, he is a love bird), Emera (german name, she's a mouse), Isolde (german, another mouse), Mendel (german name, he's a rat).. it goes on and on. Haha.

I really had no idea what name to give until I held him for a bit. Then I realized that, being a male tan chihuahua, he was the same coloring as "Ren" from the cartoon "Ren & Stimpy" that I used to watch on Nickelodeon as a tween in the early 90s. That used to be one of my favorite shows, and I immediately knew that was the perfect name for him.

Oh, I do know that bunny hop & Midgie still does at 7 years old. I named my first chi Kasper with a K instead of C because she was pure white like snow. She passed away after giving birth to 5 pups including my Midgie. I got rid of all the pups & gave my mom pick of the litter which was Midgie. She named her Midgie (short for midget) as we've always had medium size dogs. Long story short, I got Midgie back after the passing of my first chi & love her name as it suits her.
I also have twin human 7 year olds. I named one Keiri not Kerry. I got the name Keiri off of one of my favorite movies "The Beast Master." Ever since I heard the name, I vowed to name my girl that name if I had a girl. My hubby named the other twin not so unusual Rebekah.
