My grandmother is 86. 5 years ago we got her a puppy as her previous one died. (She was ready and knew we were getting her one). She ONLY let my dad get her a dog on one condition though - That if something happened to her before Frankie died, my dad would take her. My dad obviously agreed! My grandma is still healthy and going with her yorkie friend though Maybe make an arrangement with someone you love and trust as a just in case

Same here! I'm in my 20's and worry too.
I plan on adding them into the section about my children and hope that someone will honor it.

Well, I've got all of you beat! I'm 74 and just got a puppy 5-6 months ago.! I have a roommate, and she would take care of the chi's. Also my vet's receptionist does rescue. She has verbably told me she would help if God forbid, something happened to both my roommate and me.

My partner and I are 24 and 25 and we have agreements with our families about taking care of our pets if something were to happen to us, it's totally normal, and it has really helped us to have peace of mind.

I'm 22 and I worry. But I'm lucky- my parents and sister and in love with Toby and he fits great with them. My mom already tries to steal him lol. If anything happened to me my mom would be on the next flight up for Toby.

Janet, I know what you mean. Unfortunately, I do not have anyone to take Angel if anything happens to us. I am 61. Hubby didn't want aymore dogs because of our age. I understand that, but I am not going to live my life expecting to die at a specific age! Things can happen at any age! And yes, the older you get, the higher the odds!

All of my children have big dogs. My daughter does have a chi along with her basset hound, but, Angel doesn't really get along with her chi. (even though they have only met once!) But, I love dogs! They are such great companions! I can't imagine being without one! I could change my mind in the future, but right now, I don't think he will outlive me! hahaha.

Well, now hubby keeps talking about a "playmate" for Angel! Angel is doing just fine with his golden retreiver playmate - Susie! AKA his sister! They play together well, only the cat doesn't. She hides upstairs!

In all, you are too young to worry about you dying before your chi. Just relax and enjoy him! Time goes by to quickly.

I'm not 50 but I worry about getting about something happening to me today & how will Midgie be. I know my hubby & girls will take care of her, but what if something happens to all us, well, I have my bro & his girlfriend, whom I'm sure will take care of her.
Think about people who love your chi as much as you & ask them if they'd take care of him if something should happen. Future planning is always a good thing. Helps us feel at ease. You're way too young to worry about things like that, but it's definitely a great idea to plan for the future.
