My mum is 71, and we got her a lovely rescue Whippet last year. Part of the deal was that he will come to us if anything happens to her. She is as fit as a flea though, far fitter than I am lol and I am 30 years younger!

Sorry everyone, i hope i haven,t made you all deppressed lol. I have got my husband, so i can only hope one of us outlast the other long enough to look after him. But i am going to stop, thinking about it and enjoy my boy, really dont know what i would do without him. He,s unlike any other dog i have ever had, thankyou everyone , for making me feel younger.-janet.

I too have already made plans for 'just in case!' I think its better to be prepared, as you dont know whats round the corner...
My mom, sister or best friend would have Honey, depending on what would be going on in their lives, although i suspect my mom would take her over the others lol. Honey does love her nanny!
I made 'instructions' for Honey - they have already been given out to the above people - these include what food she eats and where to buy it, how to access the 'just in case' money i have set aside for her, Pet Insurance, Healthy Pet Club and Vet Details... etc etc!
It also includes a list of what foods are dangerous for dogs, and when to induce vomiting or not after ingesting certain things.
They also have first aid kits (again just in case!) for her, including Benadryl, Hydrogen Peroxide, a syringe, eye wash etc etc.

I will be 59 in January and yes, I think of this too! I know these 2 Chihuahuas will be my last as they probably will outlive me. I have already had Cancer twice, have High blood pressure....blah blah blah...I know my son can only take care of one of my dogs (Chico) so I told him to ask Kody's breeder if she would take him back(which I am sure she would). I have thought about telling him to come on this board to ask if someone would take Kody but don't know if that would be too......hhhmmm....I don't know... just would feel strange to ask here, but I know you guys would take care of Kody if that time comes.......

Oh Jan!! I'm honored that you would consider the people on this forum. I agree! There's so many loving & caring people here that I would feel comfortable with someone on here taking my chi if something were to happen to me.
