Honey was scheduled for the 4th Jan. My vets rang me this afternoon, they have a space for her tomorrow - I wanted tomorrow originally as I have mon and tues off work anyway.
Good luck Honey!! She will be fine, once it's over you will be like "that's it?"
When Lola got spayed, she came home running around like a crazy girl like nothing ever happened. I had to hold her to keep her from being her usual playful self so the incision could heal.
Good luck honeypie! KC is gettin hers today plus a microchip I'm hopin for a speedy recovery for both of our pups! Can't wait to get her back tonight...the house hasn't been the same!

Hi all, my baby is home... She is so sad
I went to pick her up about 1ish, they did her first thing to save her getting stressed out in the cage. She has a weeks worth of pain meds to start tomorrow. She is wearing her inflatable collar and she hates it.
She is currently lying in her crate with the door open. She is not sleeping, she wont lie down and relax, but she looks tired. She has refused food and water too, but she asked to go out as soon as we got home and she did a poo, no pain. I am leaving her be for a while now.
They gave me the Hills Diet canned food - does anyone recommend using this for a few days? Ive looked at the ingredients and its full of cereals/animal derivatives so i wasn't planning to! Is her normal food ok? The advised using the Hills as its very plain and wont upset her stomach after the anesthetic?
Also, what temp should i be keeping the room? I dont want her to get too cold/hot? Should i be checking her temperature?
Thanks Zorana, she has 2 fluffy blankets in her crate and she has half buried herself in one of them. I have a heat pad to use but not sure whether i need to or not.x
As far as food, I'd feed her her regular food. No need to change her diet. Anesthetic may give her a tummy ache but its not usually a major problem.
You don't need to change the thermostat, just make sure she has lots of warm blankets. Some people use a heating pad, too, like you would for little pups.
Honey asked to go out again, she has diarrhea bless her. I know thats to be expected somewhat, but i will keep a close eye on it.
Should i be concerned she still wont sleep? She's just sat in her crate all dole eyed.
When Leo got neutered this past fall, he was the same way, he didn't sleep right away either. He had a hard time getting comfortable and then when he would try to lay down, he would yipe and cry. And his eye were all crazy too, I was trying to find a pic to show you but I just transferred all the old pics to my pc.
If she doesn't eat in a couple of hours, maybe offer her some deli meat or chic breast. I'm guessing she hasn't eaten since last night.
Thanks both. I lifted her up to me for a kiss and cuddle and she fell to sleep on me straight away! She just wanted to be close to me, bless her. So ive set her up next to me on the sofa and she has been asleep for 10 mins + now, yay. Will try her with food again when she wakes up, thanks, ive got some chicken breast too.
awwwww yay honey pie honey poo honey boo boo is home! so glad shes home! when my bf took her home he made his bed her spot to rest LOL. he used his blanket which was really soft like a comforter....into a doughnut shaped ring? lol! he put a pee pad right there just incase she didnt have enough energy to go down. she was REALLY out of it....but now today shes better but still sleepy
So glad Honey's spay went ok, it's a worrying time for us Mummy's. Her recovery so far sounds all very normal, I remember Bella just sitting up in her little bed and me wishing she'd just settle a little bit. Glad she's managed a bit to eat as that should help to settle her tummy, in a few days she'll start to feel as right as rain. X
Thanks Lisa, i was expecting her to be sleepy so to just have her sat there was not in my plan lol. Do you think i should offer her more food? She looks like she would eat more, but i dont want to push it, esp with her diarrhea.
hopefully as the anananananthesia LOL goes away....she'll be eatin normal again! mmm mmm chicken breast! boy i bet that was a treat! KC ate her zukes peanutbutter treat prefectly when she got back to my place :] so thats like... 8 hours after she wokeup from the spay awwww~ poor baby honey pie! keep her warm <3
I think I'd stick to the safe rule of little and often, if she eats slightly less for a day or two she won't come to any harm. I bought Bella some dog milk from the pet shop and she really liked it when she was eating less.
Thanks Lisa, you are right. We've gone up to bed for an early night now, she's still sat up in her crate but hopefully she will nod off soon and sleep through the night. I might have to try that, will see how she goes! Thank you x
