Chanel is about your girl's size and the carrier I use for her is 18" long.

I use 15" for Bella, who is only a little over 2 pounds.

I found this one, 17.5 inches long. I don't know if it would work?

houndstooth/faux patent carrier: Bitch New York - Designer Dog Carriers, Designer Dog Clothing

If not, then I'll just get this one, 19 inches long.

sherpa pop tote eva airline carrier: Bitch New York - Designer Dog Carriers, Designer Dog Clothing

I got this one from Lands End: Canvas Tote Pet Carrier from Lands' End. Ren is 5 pounds and he has room to spare, so your dog should be fine - the description says it works for dogs up to 20 pounds. It is very sturdy and works good as a shoulder bag. There is another similar product on the website, called a duffel carrier, but it doesn't seem to have good reviews, while this tote gets a lot of raves.

That bag looks lovely! Alas, it wouldn't work for Sophie, since she's 14" long, and one of the reviews said their 15" dog wouldn't fit :/ I think I need a second dog to go shopping for

The best "cheap" carrier I have found, especially for being inconspicuous, is the Zack & Zoey Park Avenue Pet Carrier. If you don't care about being inconspicuous, PetSmart sells the Bergan carrier and it is very functional for a lower price point.

Does this look like it would work? Faux Crocodile Dog Carriers If so, this is like the one I have (mine is pink) that I can let go cheap because my two rotten dogs won't even consider going in it. It's a medium because in my deluded mind I pictured both of my chis cooperating and going in it.
