Both of my 'brats' won't chew on antlers and I would love them to.... :foxes15: I have bought big ones, little ones...and they just sniff and walk off.... I know there are several here that have 'angels' that love chewing on the antlers so I am asking ....
do you prepare them some way to get them to chew on them or do they just like them straight from the store??? am I just an unlucky mom with finicky brats when it comes to chewies....lol

I am really interested in antlers too but haven't bought one yet as I think Rocky might not chew them and I don't wanna waste the money.
I was reading that you can soak them in water to get softer? Maybe you can put some sort of flavour into the water before soaking them (i.e. liver sausage paté). Just so that they smell differently? Just an idea though and dunno if that would work.

Boiling in chicken stock, what a great idea I'll have to try that myself, I bought antlers to Blaze was big on them for a minute but she doesnt care about them anymore, the other 2 never did.

My 3 are well known antler addicts. Addicted I tell you!

They much prefer split antlers. They adore the marrow.

For whole antlers I tuck them (when new) into their bag of Ziwipeak for a couple of days and then they attack them. They will still pass up a whole one if they see a split one nearby.

I get these:

Unfortunately the pictures show whole but the split looks very different. I get the "petite" sized and even my 3 pounder carries them around like nothing.

Jaxx is an antler addict!

He also prefers the split ones. He will chew on the whole ones but not as much as the split ones.

I usually put the whole ones into his bag of Ziwipeak for a couple days too in order to entice him to chew on it.

We have tried several different brands of antlers and he will chew on all of them but he absolutely loves the split antlers from Ziwipeak.

I have had trouble lately finding the split antlers in ZP so I buy the whole ones and then have hubby cut them in two down the middle so the marrow is showing

For all of you antler addicts I want to recommend a great place called Acadia Antlers. Theyre having a sale and its always free shipping!

My dog wont chew on the antlers I get at pet stores but I got a "moose rac" (an antler slice with a rope through it) and she wouldnt put it down. I think it helped that it had a rope through it because it became a toy for her too and she played fetch with it. They have a variety of sizes and very reasonable pricing. The lady who owns it can help you out if you message her about special sizes or certain parts of the antler that you want.
