Default Some advice on bringing new puppy in please.?

Hi guy,s some of u may know that I,m on the lookout for another chi, I have a question about jealousy,I know there is going to b some for sure, and i know i have to pay extra attention to Charchi but dont know if I,m actually doing the right thing in getting another ?U C Charchi sleeps with me and gets pats, cuddles, and kisses ,all through out the night, in fact every time i wake up throughout the night, he alway,s looks at me so he gets a pat and a kiss, so he gets a lot of lovin, he goes everywear with me, and gets jealous if a child tries to get on my lap, he will jump up there to, I,m wondering if he,s going to let another chi near me. He alway,s plays ok with other dogs but their not on his bed either, My question is have i done to much damage, have i spoilt him to much to indroduce another chi now?sorry for the long post, but this is important to both of us So what do u think guy,s thanks.

It's hard to answer, because there are so many things to take into
consideration. It can go either way imo. What I would suggest is to
foster a shelter dog, so you could get an idea of what it's like to have
two, without the 10+ year commitment.

Oh, that is really a hard one. I have a 6 yr old , very spoiled pug, she sleeps with us. I got Ike this past Oct, 7 weeks old. The first night I put him in the crate, he screamed all night long, I couldn't take the guilt, so the the next night I put him in our bed and Sadie did fine, she has her special blanket and does not want him on it, but he gets under the covers. They are jealous of each other , but making out fine.

There is no way to know how Charchi will react, just give him the same attention as you do now, let him know he is still # 1 and whenever you have to give the new one attention include Charchi, it is really hard at first. We are still going through a transition and it has been 3 months. Wish I could be more help, each day is something new with them.

I don't think you've done too much damage my only advice is to make sure the new dog is also a Chihuahua, it has been my absolute experience that Chihuahua's prefer the company of other Chihuahuas.

That said, When we got Mimi, we had already had Bijou for over a year, closer to two when we brought her home, both dogs disliked each other (and they are closely related) it took about a week before they would hang out in the same area, a month later they were totally fine but didn't interact much. Mimi decided that she loved my husband, and Bijou has always been mine.. so that's how that worked.

However now over a year later they are both happy to sleep beside each other, eat out of the same bowl, drink from the same water and groom each other. I'm not saying this is typical I think most dogs warm up more quickly! (look at Pidgeonsheeps Dexter & KC as an example!) there was a period where I thought my dogs would never hang out and it perplexed me because they had known each other before both living in my home!

Sometimes you just never know.. generally speaking Chihuahuas like other Chihuahuas.

Hi LS ,i was acually thinking of trying the shelter dog idea, i will give them a ring and c if they would let me try this, i know it is a hard one, but he really does love to play with other dogs , thats what makes it so hard, i know he would love another chi to play with, just dont know what will happen when he realizes the other chi isen,t going home.aia,ll ring the rescue place and c what they have, thanks.

I would only get another chi anyway,i do expect there would b some ,warm up time here, I,ll b getting a female because i think this might help charchi except her better, instead of another male , where charchi might feel he,s lost his place, Ill let you all know when i find her, thanks guy,s.
