She is getting the pup from her sister. I am getting the sister of this pup. They are all weaned and they have been separated from their mother at night for over a weak. The entire litter is leaving so there is really no advantage to asking her to keep just our two pups. They seem to be doing great on the solid food. One thought though- these pipe are eating pedigree and we are switching them to better food. Do you think since the pedigree has more carbs (right?) It would be better to keep them on it for a few weeks? Or should I maybe get a can of puppy milk to mix with the kibbles to supplement it?
I'd keep them on the pedigree until they had fully settled in. A week at least. THEN you can SLOWLY start to switch to a better food. Do it over a week. A tiny amount of the new food for the first day. If everything is OK then add a teaspoon more. By the end of a week the pup should be switched. I like the puppy milk too to moisten the food.
