Our older son C. likes rock collecting, so we got him a Break-Your-Own Geode Kit for Christmas. He really enjoyed breaking the geodes with a hammer (you put them inside a sock first, so that the pieces don't go flying everywhere), and seeing the beautiful crystals inside. I took our kids to a Geology Day at our local Nature Center recently, where you could bring in your rock collections for identification, and one of the experts there told C. that his geodes came from Mexico. After we got home, C. checked the box to see if the man was right, and saw that they did indeed hail from Mexico...specifically CHIHUAHUA, Mexico! He couldn't wait to tell me!...and my always generous boy even gave me a piece of one of the geodes "since you love chihuahuas, Mom."

You're so sweet, LS, thank you. He is 14, and I've had the privilege of being his Mom for 9 years now. He began visiting our family at age 5, and moved home a few months later. We were then able to finalize his adoption when he was 7. One of his love languages is gifts, so he frequently gives little presents to others to show that he cares, bless his heart. He got such a big kick out of his geodes being from Chihuahua! He told Chica and Ella all about it, but they didn't seem too impressed, LOL.
