I had an unfortunate incident today. Thankfully my babies were not in their car seat in the car tonight. I live in a pretty rural/country area outside lf Columbia SC. Tonight coming home I had a deer come out of nowhere. I slammed on the brakes and the anti lock brakes engaged. I softened the blow a little bit because of my heavy braking but hit the deer and it ended up in a ditch. Yes, I feel horrible. I am quite vigilant as I know there are deer out near our house. This one literally came put of nowhere. What I am getting at is I often have the pups in their car seat in the front seat of of the car. Since getting Prince I have gotten lazy with tethering them in. They basically have been riding freely in their seat since they don't ever attempt to get out. Had they been in the front seat tonight they would have been thrown into the windshield without a doubt and thrown hard since i braked super hard. Lesson learned. My car seat came with one teather and I need to order one for Prince tomorrow. I did not get hurt but I just got a brand new car at Christmas time. It will require some work to get it fixed up.

It's always scary when carrying our precious little cargo!!
I dont always fasten Susie because we only travel four miles each way at 30 miles per hour or less! But Angel is always in his carrier, however, I will admit he is not buckled in! But again, they are both in the backseat of a small car and not traveling far or fast! And yes, consensus is most accidents happen close to home!

We do not live in a rural area, and I am surprised at how many deer I see either in my yard or near it! It makes me feel bad! I feel like we have invaded their territory!

Glad that you were okay and no babies were hurt! Poor deer, though!

Glad you are okay! How scary.

Toby's car seat used to be in the front seat because I like him close to me. However, my mom pointed out the airbag situation and how he is smaller than most children who are warned not to sit in the front. After that I realized that I needed to put him in the back seat. Now, he goes in his snoozer car seat all buckled in - in the back seat. Better safe than sorry.

So scary! So great that you were okay. Poor deer. Odie rides strapped in her seat in the back. In my little car, the air bag in the passenger seat is always on and in our newer car the air bags can be turned off but I have no idea how!

Good reminder to everyone to secure our precious babies in their seats. I have been thinking of getting a second seat or larger one that better accommodates 2. I only have one tether making it difficult to secure both my babies. I'm glad you are ok and that your babies were safe at home.
