I have always had a pet or 2. I have panic attacks and require a pet to help keep me calm and focused. Chili is a registered ESA. My husband works out of town a lot and I do believe I couldn't make it without Chili. He goes to work with me every day but because he loves it when it is time to go home he gives me a reason to want to go home aswell. Because i worry and get overly anxious when alone i would probably find things to do after work to be around people or have some sort of interaction with other breathing things rather than go home alone. With chili i can handle life much better. well that's probably more than you wanted to know....lol

Default Why did you choose to have a pet?

I've had the lot over the years. Chickens, turkeys, ducks, finches, parrots, tarantula,l izard, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, fish, stick insects, hamsters, mice, dogs. I think the only thing I haven't had is gerbils and cats. 90% of them have been given to me by people that don't want them. At one point I had 3 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs and a parrot all given to me virtually at once. My brain says no and my mouth says yes. I've always kidded myself that they were for the children but really they were for me. I just need to love things! All I ever really actually wanted though was a chihuahua! My husband was never keen but at least I have what I want now! Would have been easier and cheaper just to let me have the chihuahua in the first place! I'm down to one parrot, one rat and my two chi's now. I shan't be replacing the parrot or rat and ideally would just like to have the dogs

Once Mishka was taken, I fell into this spiraling abyss of depression. That's why we got our Chi's.

That's so sad. How cruel some people are. X

I prefer to be in the company of animal to that of people. None of my furry companions are "pets" - they're family. My mother grew up on a farm, and I think she was traumatized by a few different animals (including her brothers...) and so she was never really big on us having pets. Any pets we had were to stay outside, which never really sat right with me. My first pets were "hand-me-downs" that my sister decided she didn't feel like taking care of anymore, a rabbit and a cocker spaniel that wasn't trained at all and mom forced to be an outside dog.
Now I guess I feel like I have to make up for that, somehow. My life feels empty without animals in it. I now have 3 chinchillas (I lost my first over Thanksgiving this past year... she was my first pet that was truly mine, and my heart broke repeatedly), 3 dogs, 2 cats, 1 rabbit (who lives outside because he prefers it) and a betta.
I feel like there is still a hole where 1 more small dog belongs before my family is complete, but I need to get the other 3 sufficiently trained first.

I've always had lots of pets but couldn't afford any since I moved out 9 years ago. Now I can afford them I got my two babies. I love dogs and missed having the, I also wanted them to keep me company during the day because my other half is at work and I don't work until evenings. I could list w million reasons why I wanted them and love having them.

Default Why did you choose to have a pet?

As a child ive always been an animal fanatic. During library time in elementary school instead of checking out childrens books i always checked out the non-fiction animal books lol. And guess what was my favorite book to read and learn from? Dogs of course! I was not allowed to have any pets but only fish (i once had a crawdad/yabby!) ive always wanted a dog so badly. So i used to pet strays and give them water from the hose lol and play with my neighbor's dogs. So finally wen i moved out at 19 i was contemplating on getting a dog but was scared because i doubted myself that what if i had to rehome her like my first dog (in high school my bf and i had a lab mix pup for 2 months but his mother wanted it out so we had to rehome her) so i decided not to get a dog but one day i tagged along with my friend to petsmart to buy treats for her dog and unexpectedly adopted tiny. It was love at first sight. It took me 2 hrs to think it over, i decided to not adopt her because i didnt want to break tiny's heart and mines as well. The rescue was also packing up to leave so i said no and walked away very sad. Then before they left the founder of the rescue group went looking for me in the store and asked me again and gave me a discount ( i guess she thought it was because of the price tag, obviously it wasnt) i looked at tiny through the kennel door and my heart melted again and that was wen i knew it was prob meant to be so i took a chance and adopted her. I WAS SO HAPPY! Lol. My first real dog that can depend on my love and support and decisions 100%!!!

Srry this was so long, but having a furry friend that ive learned and longed for so long is finally mine. I love tiny and penny so much but there is still a special place in my heart for my lab mix who we named ruby. Thanks for reading!

Married without kids you feel like there is something missing, for me it was a dog.
My puppies make my family feel whole, it's different than when we were only 2, it was just perfect timing to start caring care for someone/thing else.
