My Mom showed me this in the paper this morning, but a friend of hers that was involved had already told her some thngs about it. A place called Purple Hearted Puppies in Summerdale, AL. was discovered by authorities yesterday and the owners arrested on 20 counts of animal cruelty. There were 40 dead dogs and 5 dead cats found, and more that had to be euthanized including 2 horses. Local veteranary clinic assisstants said they had never seen anything like it before. What I would like Trestro to see is that one woman came there showing a picture of her 4yr old persian cat that she had given them to find the cat a home. She said, "When I heard the news I thought, 'Oh, no. Please don't let it be." But it was. I don't know how to put links in like ya'll do (maybe somone will give directions t me) but you can go to Photos from the Press-Register - al.com for photos. There is a precious chi in one of the photos that I would love to rescue, but don't know if I have the wherewithall for a rescue and probably would neer get him the line would be too long of people wanting him!

I thought of this and I wanted to make it clear for all of the WONDERFUL people on our forum that rescue abused animals THANK YOU!!!! I wasn't meaning that this is necessarily a common occurrence. I just wanted Trestro or anyone who is thinking of turning their pet over to a rescue shelter to be sure to SEE the shelter and where their pet will be so their pet will not end up at a place like this, but the fact is, once your pet is in another's hands they're life is totally out of your control at that point.

UPDATE: Was just going to let everyone know I heard on the news tonight that the mother and daughter that owned the rescue shelter where the animals were found dead and neglected were charged with so many counts of animal cruelty and other charges that the sentence adds up to almost 100 years in prison. And NO that is NOT a typo!

Poor babies. I just do not understand why people do this and think it's ok. That little Chi is adorable and it looks as if the woman holding it is not letting it go anywhere..

I was told yesterday by a man at the pet store that is providing food for the humane society that is handling the animals that people were waiting in line for that little Chi.
