We created our own extensive contract guide that goes with each puppy we sell but I am always looking for new/better ideas.

We have a deposit agreement for when people place a deposit on their puppy and once they purchase their puppy we have our Contract Guide which includes the following:

Purchase Agreement that contains the Lifetime Health Guarantee
Neuter/Spay Contract
Basic Care Agreement (which basically outlines in detail the dos and don't of dog ownership)

I go over the contracts line by line with prospective puppy owners to ensure that they understand it. Answering questions etc if necessary.

So I am wondering what other breeders use/have etc. I truly wish that there was an industry wide standard but with provincial/state laws etc I doubt that will ever happen.

Wow! I'd love to see yours, lol. 11 pages!! I'm pretty sure at 11 pages you've got most things covered.

Mine was one page that I signed. The top of the page included the sire and dam's information (this information also included their AKC numbers, what litter number it was and their full names), along with Reese (my tzu's) birthdate and the amount I paid.

The first paragraph basically states that I bought him, for how much, and gives a health guarantee.

The second paragraph states that if I don't want the puppy anymore he has to come back to her and she will find him a home.

Third paragraph outlines that I must neuter him if I'm not going to show him and that I won't get his papers until I show proof of his neuter.

The rest of the contract goes over what I as an owner must provide for Reese as a puppy. Then there is a section that tells me what happens if I violate any part of the contract. (legally)

The end of the contract is names, signatures, addresses etc..

Our Purchase Agreement is one page (outlining the basics of who, which puppy, which parents etc, the puppy purchase price, puppy comes back to us etc etc etc)

The Health Guarantee is two pages (outlines the vet check, timeframes for notifying us of any health issues, what the guarantee does and does not cover etc etc etc)

The Neuter/Spay Agreement is two pages (outlines the timeframe to have the dog altered, basic information as to why the dog is to be altered and the penalties if the dog is not altered etc etc)

The Basic Care Agreement is five pages (it is so detailed it is not funny - covers everything from food, to training to first aid kits hehe)
