Hi all. I took Zarita for routine blood tests as she had been coughing when she got really excited, or the puppy was playing to rough with her. The only thing they found was a CK (inflammation enzeme) 4 times normal. The vet didn't say any thing about it, and I just picked up the written report yesterday. Never been elevated before. Heart was normal size on X-ray. This is the test they do on humans to see if they've had a heart attack. Any ideas from the vet techs on the forum??

I don't have any idea- I'm just stopping by to say that I hope your baby is okay and you get the answers you need.

Chloe coughs when she is excited. Our vet said she has a "soft esophagus". We just keep an eye on it. She said it should never cause her a problem just a cough. Hope it is something simple for your baby. I know it is frustrating to not get answers.

Ike has a cough, when he is excited. Both times I have taken him to the vet for his puppy shots, I have mentined it. Doesn't seem to phase her as I have not received an answer.

What was the exact number? If it was less than 10,000 it could have been stress induced if she was doing a lot of shivering. Muscle trauma is the indicator on that test. That's probably why your vet didn't mention it? He just put it down to that?

The upper 'normal' was 200 and Zarita's was 800. She is always nervous and shivering when she goes in, and has never had this elevation. Thanks.

I would just call the vet tomorrow and ask for his opinion. He should be explaining all results, especially if they are abnormal. He must not think it was of consequence.
