I came to this forum because I am adopting a light colored chi and she has really watery, stained eyes. She's been surrendered from a puppy mill, so I thought maybe once she is healthy, the eyes might get better. After reading some other posts, it seems like this is a common problem that I'll just have to keep up on.

I'm a recent chi enthusiast, having saved my first chihuahua, Porkchop, on 7/1/11, from running in the middle of a country road in the rain. Nobody claimed her and both of us are better for it. She is the sweetest little dog I've come across.

I found Sam at a local no kill shelter last Thursday and she is also a doll. Together, they are a perfect fit. Yin and yang.

I'm excited to find a community of chi lovers to share and chat with.

Welcome! Diet also really helps with tears and staining. A quality food will make a world of difference. I'd also recommend wiping the eyes twice a day with a damp paper towel to remove bacteria and prevent staining.

I have a chi with a white face, and she sometimes has staining. I just wipe it away. I feed 5 star food, and haven't really found food to be the problem.
