I was Just Wondering If There Was Anyone Living In The Rep Of Ireland??
I Was just Looking To Socialise my Chi a bit with other chihuahuas because she doesnt seem to like other dogs apart from her brother and sisters and its very difficult to socialise her with strangers dogs because i dont know how the other dogs will react

Anyway love to hear from anyone xxxxxx

Hi there! I live in Dublin, but I don't think I'd be much help

Poppy is terrified of other dogs other than my other two, it all started about two years ago we were on a beach and the dogs were off leash when a gorgeous huge retriver puppy of about 6 months decided to "play" with Poppy, well she was terrified and ran the length of the beach with the retriever chasing after her... ever since then she's petrified of other dogs.

I bring her on walks up Killiney Hill where there are loads of dogs off leash and on leash but after meeting the first one or two she doesn't bark but just shies behind me. I have to keep her on leash all the time when other dogs are about because I'd be terrified she'd take off if chased by a dog. If we are on a street walk she will bark like nuts at any dog she meets - but it is purely fear.

I have tried everything introducing her to calm and placid dogs but nothing really seems to work. I will just keep walking her in areas with lots of dogs and hope she eventually gets the message that they are not all out to get her!!

aww poor poppy being chased down the beach and poor you too I can only imagen Poppy tearing off down the beach with a retriever following behind with you then running calling poppy ...omg Iv been there with my pom kayla...
yeah Clio is almost exactly the same
I got her when she was past the learning puppy stage
Not sure what kind of experiences she has had unfortunately.

Yeah its a bit strage some dogs she barks and growls at until they get close and meet and then shes fine and wants to play but other dogs she continues to freak out even after they meet she just takes to some dogs and refuses to except others...

I cant bring her to as many places anymore because every single time she even sees another dog she goes off like an alarm clock barking and growling like a lunatic..

Even some people she really dislikes tries to kill them....
family and friends when at home she meets and greats everyone wonderfully but If I enter a pet shop she tries to kill anyone that tries to even say hello
I hate people thinking bad of her because she really is a dote

Yes, same with Poppy she's a dote, it is just pure fear though.

She totally adores my other two dogs, and is always seeking to please them and follow them (much to their annoyance!) she's like a love sick puppy with her brothers

I suppose it's just in their personality and no matter how much we try to train them and let them have good experience with other strange dogs that once that fear is there it's almost impossible to remove it.

Hi to everyone on this thread. I was just Googling to see if anyone had Chihuahuas in Ireland! I am looking for a Chi buddy for mine, she is very playful and loves other Chi's. I am in S Dublin, where are you located? Would love to get them together to play - maybe we could start a Chi playgroup.

Unfortunately im in Waterford It is only 2 hours roughly away but my car is sitting up now for a while it needs a few things gone but it all adds up considering iv lost my job ...

If anyones around or down in Waterford let me know please...dying to get clio to meet some chi`s ..xxxxxxxx
