I had never seen a chi with blue eyes either, until I saw him. Of course he is not the best bred. You can tell by looking at him, and my husband got him off CL. Im not sure if from a BYB or an accidental litter. He doesnt quite understand the whole breeding to better the breed idea. I cant say i regret having the Goob, but I would have done things differently, if that makes sense?
From what I understand, the mother was white with black, and since he said she had a brown spot over her eye on the black patch, I would assume she was a parti tri. Daddy from the sounds of things (black, gray, and white splashed with blue eyes) was a merle.
The blue eyes probably come with the Merle gene. My moms Rocky is a hidden Merle (meaning he doesn't have the pattern on his fur but still carries the gene) and he has blue eyes.

The next chihuahua will be rescue or a responsible breeder, most definately.
My husband went out and got him for me without telling me. He knew I wanted one for ages, and decided to surprise me. I had to delicately ask how Goober was purchased, and explain why it wasnt the right way while not seeming ungrateful.
I love this little guy to death, and am thrilled with him. Hes so expressive. Ive fallen hard for chis!
