Hey all you wonderful Chi people, my Winnie is 6 months old and her head is balding pretty heavily now on the temples scalp and chest. No itching, or symptoms.

I've read and been told by my vet that its normal at this age when they are growing and haven't been fixed yet, hormone changes and just plain growing up. She's getting fixed next week and the vet says by 8 months to a year it usually grows in???

Anyone back that up with experience.
There is no mange or mites

Pablo had a bald chest and two patches on his head when he was a couple of months younger, the head has grown in but he still has a wee bit of a bald chest! for a while his tummy skin went darker too apparently after researching this is quite normal!! I frealed out for a while too xx

Star was like that. She started shedding/balding a lot in those areas. She seems like she's growing her hair back on her neck slowly and much slower on her head, better than what it looked like when she was 6 months. She's 8.5 months now.

My chi has this on his head, the vet asked me to change food which I am in the process of doing now, however the more I look the more I think it could just be the way chi's heads are :/ I'm going back to the vet once the food is changed over but tbh I do think its maybe normal

Frida is 2, but she also has balding patches. Our vet said it sometimes just happens to chi's and that dachshunds also have it. If your vet's not worried I wouldn't be!

It could be normal. Alopecia (pattern baldness) is very common in chi's. Especially from pet quality breeders. Brody has it. He has a bald neck, very sparse chest and belly. Hair on his head is thin, but not completely gone.

You can try a supplement such as Missing Link professional strength or Nupro. Both have powders that have omega 3 fatty acids, etc. that can help with hair and coat quality. Brody's coat is super healthy, he just has some bald areas.
