Default After spay care

I know I'm getting annoying with all my spay questions. Good thing (for now!) Dolly is an "only chi"!

What I want to know is, when is it OK to leave them in the crate after spaying? I need to run some errands today and we have to be somewhere as a family tonight, and tomorrow is soccer...so there is either crate time ahead of us, or I'll make some other arrangements.

She seems fine, and in no pain. She is starting to lick her staples a bit, but stops when I tell her. I wonder if she will do that in her crate? I worry about putting on the bonnet and having her strangle in the crate, so I would rather she licked than strangled.

Maybe I shouldn't leave her though. I just don't know. Obviously I wouldn't if she was in pain, or lethargic, but she is almost back to normal and I'm trying to keep her from jumping off my bed or dancing around for treats!

Any ideas? Thanks!

I left Piña in her crate for a little while a couple of days after her spay; she was good and I felt better knowing she wasn't jumping up and down off things. She will most likely just sleep while she is in her crate; that's what Piña does anyhow. Glad to hear she is doing well, it's nice to have it over with isn't it... one less thing to worry about

She should be OK in her crate, but if you don't want to put that lovely e-collar on her what I did was put a long shirt on my girls that kind of covered the stiches so they couldn't get to them. Give that a try, it's only been a couple of days for her and I wouldn't want to see her pull her incision open.
