Does anyone know why my dog is ALWAYS licking her paws??? Does anyone else have this problem ? At night when she goes to sleep she starts to lick her paws for about 30 mins and then she moves on to the sheets and she just licks the sheets for about another hour... she leaves a huge wet spot wherever she lays for extended periods of time.
Does anyone else have a chi who likes to lick alot?????

lol, Yoshi totally does this ^_^ She crawls under the sheets before bed and she'll lick them and lick them, then come back up and I'll have a huuuge wet spot I have to sleep on. It's so funny, but kinda annoying too ^_^

I think it's a small dog thing.. although my Great Dane Nola used to do the same thing and it was worse because he licking would literally keep us up at night, LOL!

I think they just really love licking and kissing. One time I was watching a movie, and I let Yoshi just keep kissing me on my face (she insists on kissing my lips, haha) ... she didn't stop for over an hour ... at that point it was really annoying me so I had to make her stop, but I think she would've gone a lot longer if I let her O_o Her eyes were all wide, her ears were back, and she was just going at it ... she got upset when I pushed her away, lol.

Neither of my chis do this, but my Springer Spaniel does ALL the time! She licks everything & everyone! I think that is one of her favorite things to do! I asked my vet about it once and was told that she's just an excessive licker! Nothing to worry about...just something some dogs do!

Yoshi does the same thing, and he insists on licking my lips too! I've been trying to get him to lick my cheek, cause at least my cheek won't chap like my dry lips do! But he pushes his way back to my lips and won't stop! I only let him do it for a minute then push him down and tell him "no, stop."

Also, to reply to the OP, Yoshi licks everything including where he's laying and such as well. He'll lay down lick for at least ten or fifteen minutes before he gets sick of it or gets drymouth and falls asleep.

**I have to add that he's laying beside me, toes and ears twitching, barking occassionally in his sleep... cause it's SO cute!**
