So very sad. Did your baby survive this? My instinct tells me yes he did and as someone else said someone wanted your baby. There are some wicked people out there .

The vets here in mississippi tell us that it stays in the ground where an infected animal has used the potty for 10+ years. I think if ever you wanted to get another animal, I would have them vaccinated for parvo before you ever bring them home. i have also heard that cats are carriers of parvo.

The vets here recommend after 6 months with heavy cleaning with a cleaner that kills the virus it is safe to bring in another puppy or kitten into your home. We have a poop pickup law here so any infected poop should not be left on the ground so I am not sure how long it can linger in a yard but from my understanding I would never bury a infected carcus in a yard if it died from parvo.

I am not talking about a carcass. mostly i was talking about when you move somewhere, you never know what is in the ground from the people before. Or if a stray has gone in your yard.. A multitude of things could happen that could infect your yard, making you need to have a puppy completely vaccinated before it is brought home. When I moved to Picayune, it was in the ground in our yard. We didnt know. Both of my pitt/rott mixes got infected with it within a matter of days. My ex-husb and I had gotten them their shots but it did no good. Only one made it. We worked around the clock to save the one that did make it. I think the vet thought they were a lost cause and wouldnt try. but we saved one of them with a B-12 shot and a lot of pure stubborn-ness.
