Default Question abotu bowel movements and labor

Luna is very regular with her bowel movements. She has one in the morning and one in the evening. She just went outside and was straining to have another movement and all that came out was some slimey, yellowish/green stuff. I was from her rear. Do dogs experience diareaha or feelings like that when they are getting ready for labor?

she can loose her plug but it would be from the private area it will be slimey. if not I would watch her and make sure it isn't from a bowel movement never seen it that color.

Try taking her temperature. That method worked flawlessly when my Tifa was pregnant.

She had a bowel movement just a bit ago and it was surrounded by really slimey yellowish green stuff. She appears to be fine and not upset at all.

I did take her to the vet and she is having 3 puppies...hopefully soon.

She may have a lot of pressure down there as she's getting close. Take her temp and keep a close watch. I wouldn't worry too much about her BM if she's not in distress. Pregnancy and labor being so close can cause all kinds of things in the body to go wonky for awhile. As long as she's not having watery diarrhea, I wouldn't worry. Keep her eating and drinking good so that she has strength for labor. And have the vets phone number and the ER vet number so that you can run to them for a c-section if it is necessary. Many Chi's end up with C-sections, so be ready for that.

It was from her bowels which is weird but the vet said the same thing, pressure and some times some digestive upset can cause some bowel irregularities as labor approaches. She had a very restless night but no real action yet. I will take her temp this morning.
