Default How to slim them down?

We're going to be taking in my wife's grandma's two Chihuahuas. They're both about 6 years old, a boy named Spud and a girl named Libby (short for Liberty). They're both extremely overweight. Libby's easily 10 lbs and Spud's about 8 1/2, thanks to grandma's habit of feeding table food.

They don't have any health issues or allergies that anyone knows of. They'll be eating Spot's Stew with our two, we plan on taking frequent walks and table food will be strictly forbidden. Does anyone have any other suggestions for slimming them down? Poor Libby waddles when she walks and neither of them can jump up on furniture.

Awww, poor things. I think a rationed diet (no free feeding) and lots of exercise will be perfect as long as they are in good health. Bless you for taking them in.

Thank you!!! I don't know how we'll pull off not free-feeding when that's all our two are used to and Zoey's still a puppy but we'll figure it out. We'll look up the green bean diet, too. Sounds interesting.

Calculate how much food they need to be at optimum weight and feed just that amount per day, that includes treats & goodies as well. Exercise also helps with weight loss. Feeding Green Beans helps with hunger issues if they act like they are starving.
