Bean is being desexed in about 5 weeks and I'm scared too but I figure the risk factor is pretty low and I'm sure for my vet it is a routine procedure. I know I will be a nervous wreck on the day but I know it is what is best for Bean.

I don't know much about this, but if it helps any...think how many chihuahua's get spayed/neutered each day...a lot of them for this "uncommon" thing. Hope everything goes smoothly for you and yalls two Chi's are back to normal in no time!

I have had closed to 100 animals in my life. I rescue and rehome a lot of them, and everyone is spayed or neutered before they leave my house. I have had exactly one complication, Reggie had a retained testicle and his incision got infected, a little antibiotics and he is fine. None had a reaction from the anesthesia. I hope ths helps ease your mnd a bit.

I know exactly how you feel.
Jaxx is getting neutered in 13 days. I was the one in our family that stood firm and said that he was going to be neutered because I know it is best for him. I would go nuts if anything ever happened to him but I keep telling myself he will be okay.

I just realized 13 days is going to fly by....

Pam, do you have the pre-op bloodwork done before neutering? I didn't get it for Charlie a few months ago nor for my last two dogs 15 years ago when they were neutered but I
Did have it done beforevhaving their teeth cleaned when they were older. I wanted to know your opinion since you in a unique position of having a medical background and having a lot of experience with different dogs due to the rescue work you do.
