Default Potty question?

I've had Luxie for about a week now, she's 17 weeks old. I am crate training her and she's really smart! I put her outside after eating, playing, first thing i the morning and in between. I'm with her all day so I established an eating schedule and it's been working out very well for us.

But, today it was raining lightly. It wasn't cold at all, just a few drops falling out of the sky and the ground outside was wet. I got Luxie to go outside to go potty and she peed quickly and then ran back to the door to go inside again. Not even 5 minutes after letting her inside she starting doing the poo-dance. Turning in circles and sniffing, it was very obvious lol! Luckily I saw it before she started to go, so I put her outside again and she went right away.
Usually she does both No.1 and No.2 at the same time! But now I'm wondering, am I doing something wrong that is she not associating outside as her toilet ...or was she just a little primadonna about the rain?

My best guess would be that she wasn't a fan of the rain I have a 2 year old Chihuahua and she is fully potty trained but when its too cold out or the weather is bad she will stand at the door and look up at me like "What you really expect me to go outside in THIS?!" I usually have to pick her up and put her outside and peak out through the curtains until she does both #1 and #2 because as long as she can see me watching her, she'll just wait at the door for me to let her back inside :P You can always try pad/litterbox training her as well so she doesn't have to go out in bad weather :P

Oh gosh yes I have to force my older Chi out in the rain. She hates it sometimes she even pees on the walk way where it is covered to not get her feet wet lol.

I vote that she doesn't like the rain. She still peed out there though, so that's great! It's really cold where we live right now, so we've been giving Odie a small treat after she goes outside so there's more incentive to go out. Now after she goes, she looks at us like "where's my treat?!".

Yes, I agree it is the weather. A tiny treat for reward works really well with my dog. Verbal praise is nice, and he looks for that, but one kibble from my fingers seems to give him the most joy.

definitely the rain sometimes it takes them a bit to overcome a new variable in their environment...

Last night she refused to potty and I took her out every half hour and still she would just run back inside. When I put her in her crate again and tried to take her to go out again she had peed in her crate!! I guess she really doesn't like the rain!! This morning though she went to potty outside again. When do you think she will finally be 100% potty trained?

Have you tried putting a coat on her? Maybe one of the cute kinds with hoods? It sounds like you are doing really well, and with a puppy the occasional soiled crate is just going to happen. She has to learn the consequences of not going outside, so at least it is a mess in her crate and not in some dark corner of your house.

I remembered about coats because it is windy here today and Barney was a bit scared by it. A layer of clothing makes him feel safer.
