Default When would you bring your puppy home?

I got to see my little girl last night. The breeder told me that she miscalculated and that she will be ready to come home on 2/8 but I can wait and pick her up on 2/14 like I was planning if I wish to. I'm not sure what to do. I've gotten my other pups at different ages. My mom reminded me that I really don't need another one like Quinn (he was just bearly 6 weeks when I got him and not totally weaned ). She will be 6.5 weeks on the 8th. Would leaving her for an extra week be that beneficial. TIA for you input.

i already know what majority of people are gonna say here... 12 weeks lol. ive someone bring their pup home at 9 weeks and was fine. ive even seen a 6 week for a kitten and was fine too. think it all depends on how strong the furbaby is. was quinn ok at that age?

I would definitely not pick her up until the 14th. It is really important that they stay with their breeder for at least 8 weeks, and most people say 12 is ideal.

I brought my puppies home at 13 and 9 weeks. The 9 week old (Penny) is now the bravest of the two, because the breeder did not socialize Lion who I picked up later. If you breeder isn't going to socialize the puppy, then picking it up at 8 weeks or so would probably be best.

I got Lily 8 weeks and Dottie was 12weeks no problems with either of them, but I would never get a puppy under 8 weeks far too young

Quinn was okay. He was really healthy and strong. He has just had eating issues from not being weaned.

She told me last night that she usually sends them home before 8 weeks so that she isn't responsible for the shots. She seems like a happy healthy puppy, a bit more skiddish than any of the other 3 were when I first saw them (Q- 4 weeks, L-4 weeks and C-9 weeks). Which I find strange because Leah is the more in charge in my group and her litter only had 2 in it (Quinns had 6 and Claudes had 8 ), hers has 3.

not responsible for shots means...no vet check?

I got Charlie at 4 months and Taz at six weeks. Charlie wasn't socialized by the breeder and I don't think I am going to be able to undo that damage. He is scared of everything and everyone except us. With Taz we just got lucky that she was weaned and did well. I would leave your pup for the extra week if it was me. I begged the people I got Taz from to keep her two more weeks and even offered to go ahead and pay for her in full but they wouldn't do it. Also I think it would depend on how big the pup is. How much does she weigh?

I personally, if it were me, I wold run from this breeder. It sounds like she has done nothing for these puppies, no vet check or anything. Have they at least been wormed? Socialied? Or did she just have a litter to "make money"? And she "miscaculated"? Sounds like she is just trying to get the puppies out of there with no thought to their health or well being. IMO
