Default teeth

Pixie is about 8 1/2 months old. I took her to my parents the other night and they say the teeth (photo below, the tooth thats curled and nearest to my finger) should have fallen out by now as its a puppy tooth. So im a little concerned now. Just wondering if its meant to have fallen out yet? Thanks xxx

Yes, they should have fallen out or been pulled when she was spayed.

They would likely put her under to remove them.

Two of mine still had retained teeth at spay (they were 6 and 7 months) but the doctor would not remove them because they were loose, even though I asked that they be. They did eventually fall out by 9 months or so.

My youngest was spayed at 9 months so he was more willing to pull her retained teeth. She had 4 that were removed.

I wouldn't do it if it's not causing any problems right now. I would wait til there's a time when you might have to put the dog under. If that time never occurs then, you might have to, but I don't recommend putting the dog to sleep unless the tooth is a problem at the moment. JMO.

Cocoa's teeth look similar but his bottom retained teeth are irritating the top gums... he will get them removed during his neuter....

Both Twiggy and Sherman have a retained canine tooth. Sherman was supposed to have his out at his neuter but the worker that signed us up for his appointment forgot to check that box and he still has it. grrrr It's not bothering him so I will leave it and just keep an eye on it. Twiggy needs a dental, her teeth are not in the best shape. They are so much better than when she came, for being 18 months old she had the teeth of a ten-year-old. She also had 14 retained baby teeth. Lots of chewies and bully sticks later, her plaque is so much better and she managed to lose 13 of the retained teeth.
