Default Constipation??

Holly seems constipated. She is 11 weeks 3 days old now. Last night she yelped when I picked her up I thought I just picked her up wrong some way but if i touched her sides even lightly she would yelp. She would tighten up stiff like as if in pain. Well she finally poo'd last night and it was hard little balls. Her normal is like a soft but formed little pickle is what i call it lol. She is not acting in pain anymore she is eating, drinking no fever, acting normal playing around this morning but her poop this morning was hard little balls also. I have not gave her any chewy rawhide's, treats or anything like that and I have not changed anything in her diet so I dunno. Think she needs to go to the vet? Or is there anything I can give her at home to help her out?

What's she eating? If it's kibble, may still be to hard on a brand new babies stomache. Might give her some puppy formula.

Blue Wilderness tends to have a really high protein level, I would slowly change her over to something with a lower protein-- California Natural, Healthwise, Acana, for example.
Also pumpkin works VERY well for helping a puppy with either constipation OR diarrhea! Real pumpkin NOT pumpkin pie filling. How much does your puppy weigh??

That's not one of the better foods, but I do believe she has a sensitive tummy. Some pups can handle different kinds of foods fine, but her little body sounds like it's telling you that she has a sensitive tummy and may need to go a little slower before completely converting to kibble or whole foods. I would definitely supplement her food with puppy formula. Switching her to a 5-star food usually doesn't require a slow transition. There is a chart in the nutrition section of this forum that tells you what foods are 4-5 stars, etc.

Last check at 9 weeks she was 11 ozs. She will go back next week for shots. She is probably more than that now I would assume. I do not have a scale here at home that will register her weight yet. I have some canned pumpkin already spice free how much should I give her? I will look into the other foods should I mix it gradually for her to switch?

Well the blue puppy that I bought is a 5 star food according to the food review site. Formula you mean the milk re placer stuff she was on that for a couple of weeks mixed on her kibble when I first got her since she was not eating food well and my vet said to take her off it at her 9 week check.

I tried to look up some of the foods you listed but none are available unless I order online which I prefer not to do. Can anyone suggest a food I can buy at Petsmart or Petco that might be better?
