I have a grinder but I can't quite get the hang of it. When I touch it to the toenail it sort of jumps and it seems to spin way too fast. I have the Pedipaws one and I wonder if it is the type of grinder I am using?

I use a dremel type tool. I haven't heard of too much success with the pedi paws. They just rotate too slow. I got my grinder at Harbour Freight, it was about $10. You can spend more, but you don't need to.

I hold the foot firmly and then press the grinder to the nail. It takes literally about 1-2 seconds per nail and you are done. Some dogs hate the vibration and noise it makes, so you have to get them used to it.

There's a ton of videos on youtube on grinding dog nails.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check out the videos on youtube and see about getting a different grinder.

I use both the Peticure nail Grinder and small nail clippers and a file from the beauty supply house that nail techs use for humans artificial nails. My grinder has a plug, so depending on where I am I choose accordingly. And yes, a firm grip always is key
