Hey there!

A while ago we noticed that the tags on Zero's collar had rubbed a spot of fur off on the front of his neck. We left the collar on, because it has all of his I.D. on it.
Last week, we really noticed that there is a definite spot where there is no fur, so we've taken off his collar in hopes that the fur will re-grow.
I'm wondering, since his collar rubbed that spot hairless for so many months, will the hair grow back or is it like when a bird plucks their feathers for long enough and they won't come back? He has such a gorgeous coat it would be a shame to have a Toonie sized naked spot front and center on his neck. (Although, it is the SOFTEST and BEST spot to kiss!) XD

I think it should likely grow back if it's the only sparse spot and due to the collar rubbing I'd imagine within a bit if you leave the collar off it should grow back nicely.

My mom's cat has permanent hair loss from a collar that she didn't wear for very long. Her coat is REALLY thick, so it's not that noticeable.

Holly, it'll hopefully grow back in. I've had this happen but due to a nylon harness
though. The hair might take a long while to grow. Try using a harness only, for
now(you can attach all the tags to it) to give the neck hair time to grow
back...and then try a different collar style/material, I have good luck with
leather ones.

Aw thanks! Zee has actually stopped traffic before, hahahaha.

We thought about switching his collar, but we think (from where the naked spot is) that it's actually the rings/tags that have rubbed the fur off. We've taken the collar off for now, and he always wears a harness when he goes out - we never ever attach his leash to a collar, as we would never want to hurt his neck.

We really hope the spot grows back in... it's reeeeally noticeable when he looks right at you, lol. Poor little guy has crooked teeth and now a nekkid spot. XD
