It is not supposed to be as common in small dogs but I know of a few who have it, including our boy who did. I knew nothing of it before.
They are typically on the medication for life.
It was explained to us that it would be like an older person who lives a normal life while they are on heart medication. They need to have it and then the illness can be managed.
It is not a thing they get, "get better" and never get again. Think of a person diagnosed with diabetes as an example. They always have it but with careful monitoring, great attention, good diet and constant medication (EXACTLY what Frankie will receive), they manage fine.
